Dorset, Devon and Cornwall have remarkably similar totals, but it seems that Somerset's lack of a south coast has cost it a lot of Casps.Gavin Haighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17242398421328525578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-824385241230348874.post-48124026911848640662021-01-27T14:13:37.128+00:002021-01-27T14:13:37.128+00:00Hi Gavin, the situation in Somerset is pretty much...Hi Gavin, the situation in Somerset is pretty much as you describe. On the Parrett, where I worked for 7 years on and off they are rare and one I found was twitched very widely. I'm aware of a couple of others but barely annual would be my best guess. I have some reports at home so doubtless I will forget to look at them and let you know. Of the 23 Axe Casps, I think I'm right in saying that only 3 have occurred on more than one date. Also, despite some stays being as short as just a few minutes, all 23 have been photographed! Not a huge challenge as each winter it is tethered to a concrete block at the bottom of Snaresbrook's Eagle Pond, and bobs around quite happily there for a few months until everyone has it on their year lists, whereupon we release it for the summer after extracting various promises.Jonathan Lethbridgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12791327377479687655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-824385241230348874.post-33084749119215740612021-01-26T06:10:48.980+00:002021-01-26T06:10:48.980+00:00How all papers should be written Gav.
